Volunteering leads to a Better tomorrow

Matt, being an avid supporter of the English Premier League soccer club- Crystal Palace, first ventured to the Phoenix on Westheimer in 2013. Having made the Phoenix on Westheimer his home base for soccer matches, Matt helped organize Houston area supporters for the Crystal Palace Eagles, and passionately used social media to promote both his soccer club and bar itself. Matt’s continued patronage over the last four years has cultivated multiple friendships as he participated in many of the Phoenix’s events, and ultimately getting more involved in groups such as the Karbach MS150 team, Zoey’s Angels, and the April Showers Dog Wash. With the rise of the Friends of the Phoenix, it seemed only fitting that the man who considered the pub his “unofficial living room”, become one of it’s founding members and it’s Treasurer.

With a career in accounting, Matt has a prime skillset that makes his contribution to the Friends of the Phoenix invaluable, and in return gives Matt the platform to campaign for those in need.

Matt is passionate about crisis assistance, as he realizes that unforeseen events happen in everyone’s lives and the importance of giving a helping hand. Through the Friends of the Phoenix, Matt is excited to do his part to help build a stronger local community and a better tomorrow. Matt welcomes any new “Friend of the Phoenix” to join in watching Crystal Palace at the pub’s viewing parties!
